9th Annual Veteran's Day Breakfast

This Veteran’s Day, the Lassen College Athletic Department hosted their 9th Annual Veteran’s Day breakfast at Monsignor Moran Hall in Susanville. Last year, the event was cancelled due to the pandemic. More than 150 veterans and their families were honored and fed by staff, coaches, student-athletes and volunteers of the athletic department.

The veterans began the day with breakfast and it concluded with a parade down Main Street in Susanville, which draws veterans spanning 80 years, from WWII to present day. Veterans from all services, ranks and military-occupational specialties joined together during the breakfast, which is paid for, prepared and served by the athletic department.

“The student-athletes benefit from this way more than the veterans,” said Glen Yonan, Lassen College Director of Athletics. “This, in many cases, is the first real connection they have to the brave men and women that fought to provide the lifestyles they get to enjoy. Almost all the student-athletes that work it once, ask to work it again. Some even come back and volunteer after they have graduated from Lassen College.”
