The Lassen Community College Board of Trustees announced they took action coming out of Closed Session at their January 14, 2025 Regular meeting to announce the selection of the new Superintendent/President for Lassen College. The Board announced that Carie Camacho, who has been the Interim Superintendent/President for the last 2 ½ years, was unanimously chosen. President Camacho has proudly served Lassen College for 27 years, starting her college career at Lassen prior to transferring to Chico State to complete her BA in Sociology followed by her Masters in Counseling from the University of LaVerne. Prior to accepting the position of Interim Superintendent/ President at LCC, President Camacho has dedicated her life to educating students at the community college level, having served as an Academic/Veterans/Athletic/Career Counselor, Faculty teaching sociology, Interim Dean of Academic Services/Chief Instructional Officer, Interim Vice President of Academic Services/Chief Instructional Officer and Interim Superintendent/President. Carie stated, “I feel very fortunate to have spent my career at Lassen College working with the students in our area. I am very excited to continue the great student-focused work we have accomplished these past couple of years. It’s truly an exciting time for students and staff as the College celebrates its 100 Year Anniversary.”
Carie and her husband, Kase Camacho, who is a life-long resident of Susanville and teacher, enjoy participating in many activities in our local community and support athletics both at the high school and the college levels. Their daughter, Maddie, is in her last year of law school at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.
