Welding Technology Program

The Lassen Community College Welding Technology Program is designed to prepare students with the necessary skills to acquire an entry-level position in the various industries that require different welding processes available through the program. The Welding Program is also designed to assist those already employed in the industry and those in the community to improve their skills.

Students will study a general welding curriculum including welding plate and pipe and qualifications in multiple welding processes to American Welding Society standards. Students will develop leadership, communication skills, and identify the welding careers they are most interested in while building a course of study to better qualify them for success in that career.

Through the program, students have access to:

  • Classes for beginning through advanced welders
  • Welding qualification tests following the American Welding Society standards
  • Practical hands-on training w/classroom theory
  • Short-term courses

The program offers an Associate In Science In Welding Technology. Also offered are a Certificate of Accomplishment in Welding Technology, and two Certificates of Achievement in the Welding Technology Two-Year Plan and Welding Technology One-Year Plan.

Many career opportunities available in the industry are welding technician, sales, inspection, supervision & management, aerospace, welding engineering, construction, trucking & automotive, and welding instructor. Some positions however, require a four-year degree for which LCC's program is a good base for transfer.
