A variety of student employment opportunities are available for students attending Lassen Community College. Student Employment services and Employment Opportunity Job Boards are located in the Financial Aid Office of the Student Services Building. Students working thru the Lassen College Work Programs must attend a Student Work Orientation before reporting to a work site. Orientations are scheduled through out the semester.

Students may work for on or off campus employers. On campus employment jobs will be assigned. Employment ranges from educational credit to paid employment. Hourly wages range from minimum wage up to $9.00 per hour. Students are generally limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week and most jobs coincide with the academic calendar and experience.

Work Experience provides educational credit through employment. Employment may be volunteer or paid. Students wanting educational credit for their employment, should contact the Work Experience Coordinator, Jim Goubert. Your must attend a Work Experience Orientation and enroll in class; units will vary depending on hours work.

Federal Work Study Program provides paid work for students through federal funded financial aid. Eligibility for certain jobs may be specific to financial aid program requirements. This program has limited funding. Students should complete their financial aid file early to receive maximum funding.

Lassen Student Work Programs provide the opportunity to work for tuition for out of state students or enrollment fees for California students. Jobs are for specific campus departments and student must complete a separate application along with the FAFSA. This program has limited funding.

Off Campus employment. Local community jobs in public, private or government employers. Most jobs available to students that meet federal work study criteria. Off campus jobs are based on current community needs. Local employers contract with the College for student employee and share the cost of earnings.

General Help Wanted Jobs are open to all students regardless of financial aid eligibility. Most Help Wanted Jobs are posted on the Job Bulleting Board located in Student Services Building.

Cal Works jobs development for students bridging from public assistance to the world of work. Students must meet Cal Work eligibility and should contact the Cal Works Office.

Ed Share Jobs. A funded project to provide employment opportunities and budget counseling for students with loan debts. Jobs available on and off campus for students.

Important Documents

Before a student can work, you must provide several documents to Financial Aid & Student Employment Office. Be sure to have copies of a picture identification such as a drivers license, and social security card, passport or birth certificate.
