Child Development Center

The Lassen Community College Child Development Center is committed to providing the highest quality of child care services, including a developmentally appropriate preschool program designed to give your child the foundation needed to achieve in school and in life. We have highly qualified staff (all teachers have Associate Degrees in Early Childhood Education), a state-of-the-art facility, and a children’s program developed around the highest standards of research-based evaluation. We are currently in the application process to receive national accreditation.

We care about the quality of care your child will receive. We also care about your needs. We work with students and working parents alike to make sure your child care needs are met. We can also assist you with any other needs your family might have by helping you find needed resources. We encourage parents to be partners with us in the care of their children. You are the first and most important teacher in your child’s life.

Who can attend?
The Child Development Center is licensed for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Students have first priority, but community members are also welcome. The center primarily accepts low-income families into low or no fee programs. Private pay care is also available for the first time starting Fall semester 2003.

What are the costs?
Families with qualifying low-income needs are admitted on a no fee or low fee basis. Currently the highest fee paid by subsidized families is $10.00 per day for all children in their family. For the first time private pay care is being made available. Call for more information.

How do I find out if I qualify for subsidized care?
Subsidized care is awarded based on financial need. The qualification formula takes into account family size and income level. For example a family of 4 can make up to $2167.00 per month and pay no fee, and $3250.00 with a small fee. To find out if you qualify please call (530) 251-8843.

When are you open?
Our hours of operation are 7:45am to 5:00pm daily based on the college academic calendar. Our infant program is open from 7:45am to 4:00pm.
