The International Student Club

The International Student Club is very active at Lassen College. We have students from around the world: Micronesia, Japan, Scotland, Canada, Caribbean, Kenya, Mexico and Russia and we anticipate with our sports teams, to continue to attract students from throughout the world.

International Dinner
The International Student Club sponsors the annual International Dinner each May. This year it will be on May 8th. The students have an opportunity to share their culture, foods and dances from their homelands. They will be cooking pig in the traditional Island method in the ground. This is open to the public. For more information call Lynda Alberico at (530) 251-8860.

Student Travel
The students throughout the year travel to see cities and sites of the west. Some of the trips that have taken place the last two years are to: Disneyland, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Oakland A's baseball game and also trips to cities close by, Reno and Redding. Students earn money toward the trips through the two craft fairs in the fall and through the International Dinner.

Come share the experience! We look forward to sharing the "American Experience" with students from around the world

The Journalism Club

The Journalism Club is a really great club to be in. Everyone gets a chance to speak his or her ideas in a free and independent thinking environment. Laughter, good company and friendship can be found within the doors of the Journalism Lab.

Anyone who would like to join the Journalism Club should call (530) 251-8821 and ask for Club President Kcarolina May, Vice-President Darrell Betz, Secretary Steve Koenig, Treasurer Jessica Glenn or Adviser Richard Swanson.

Lassen Community College Journalism Club has become one of the most active clubs on campus. Not only are club members involved in the student newspaper, the J Club has created a fundraising monster with its annual Rocktoberfest fundraiser. 16 bands and counting will be playing the “fest” this year including the Angry Amputees, Kleen, F.A.T.E, and Palter. It is the first indie rock-fest of its kind in the area.
