Student Spotlight - Elizabeth Fernandez
Elizabeth Fernandez is a 2011 graduate of Lassen High School. After graduating from LHS, Elizabeth, or more commonly Lizzie, started her post-secondary education at Lassen Community College. Lizzie is an exceptional student who maintains a nearly 3.5 GPA and also is very active in a variety of student life and community organizations. While attending LCC, Lizzie has been a constant voice for students. She has served as an ASB senator and has been extremely proactive and vocal and also has served for the past year as the ASB Student Trustee on the LCC Board of Trustees. She enjoys her opportunity to represent the student body at Lassen College and does it well.
Lizzie has worked on campus as a work-study student for the last two years and has worked for the ASB and Admissions and Records. She has been an active participant in a variety of events on campus such as Eighth Grade Week, Discover Lassen College, student activities, and much more.
In her free time, Lizzie has also served and currently serves at the state level in the Student Senate for California Community Colleges. Since June of 2012, she has served as a Region 1 Governance and Policy Senator, Vice Chair and Chair of Region 1. While she loves being able to help her fellow students out at a state level, she never forgets her hometown. She regularly participates in a variety of events and committees for the local Native American tribes in Susanville and has worked as medical receptionist at the Lassen Indian Health Clinic. She also has served on the Lassen County Economic Development Project in 2012.Lizzie will graduate this month from LCC with a degree in Art History and plans on transferring to UC Davis to continue her Art History studies. Lassen College is fortunate to have had such a wonderful student advocate for the last two years and her presence on campus will be greatly missed. She is truly a model student that Lassen College will be proud to call an alumnus.
