How do I apply for financial aid?
You may complete a paper FAFSA application, or apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

When do my Stafford loan payments begin?
After you graduate, leave school, or drop below half-time enrollment, you have six months before you begin repayment. This is called a "grace period."

What will be my monthly repayment?
To calculate your monthly payment exercising different options use EDWISE- The Online Financial Planning Guide, at www.edwise.org. To find out your total student loan indebtedness go to www.nslds.ed.gov.

What is loan consolidation?
With a consolidation loan you can combine any or all of your outstanding federal student loans into one single loan.

Is it ever possible to postpone repayment of my loan?
Yes. Under certain circumstances, you can receive a deferment or forbearance on you loan. A deferment allows you to temporarily postpone payments on your loan.

Can my loan be discharged or canceled?
Yes, in certain circumstances. A discharge releases you from all obligations to repay the loan in cases of total and permanent disability or death. Contact your lender for assistance.

Do I have to make payments on my loan even if I don't receive a bill or repayment notice?
Yes. You are obligated to make payments even if you don't receive any reminders or a bill from your lender.

If I move do I have to notify my lender?
Yes, if you move, change your phone number or name, drop below half-time enrollment, withdraw from school, or change your graduation date, you are required to notify your lender within 10 days.

Does a student loan appear on my credit report?
Yes, you risk damaging your credit rating if your student loan(s) become delinquent.

If I default on my student loan, will I be eligible for additional student loans if I return to college?
If your federal student loan(s) are in default, you will not be able to receive further federal student aid until the issue is resolved. Contact your lender, service, or current holder of the loan to set up a satisfactory repayment plan in order to regain eligibility for federal student aid.

Who can I call if I need help or get into trouble?
Call your lender, guarantor, or the financial aid office for assistance.

What if I have to withdraw during the semester?
If you are thinking of withdrawing or just leaving, please think again. Don't leave unless you MUST, but if you must, take care of business when you go. There is an official withdrawal process which begins in Admissions and Records.

If I withdraw after classes begin, will I owe money back?
You may owe back to federal financial aid programs according to the day you withdraw. Stop by the Financial Aid Office to see if you owe any funds back or have to repay any grants that you have received.
