The learning Disabilities Program offers a wide range of classes and services for students who have learning disabilities. A thorough assessment is completed on all students requesting our services, as mandated by the Chancellor's Office of the California Community Colleges.
After completion of the assessment, specialized counseling is available for each student who qualifies as a learning disabled student under Title 5 criteria, to assist the student in selection of his or her courses. At that time, students may be advised into mainstream classes, special classes or, most commonly, a combination of both.
The special classes assist the student in developing the learning skills and strategies necessary to complete the requirements of their major. Services provided include testing accommodations, reading and proof-reading, adapted computer instruction, and academic tutoring.
