IGETC Certification

UCs may require transfer students to have completed an Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) Certification prior to attending the campus of your choice. An IGETC Certification can be completed by the Transfer Counselor during (or right after completion of) your last semester at Lassen College. If you plan to transfer to a UC campus make an appointment with the Transfer Counselor to have an IGETC Certification completed. Don’t be caught without it! U.C. requirements differ widely so be sure to meet with the Transfer Center staff.

CSU GE Certification

Students planning to transfer to one of the California State Universities should follow the curriculum guide of CSU General Education requirements. By following this curriculum you will not be required to complete any more lower division general education at the CSU. Note: There are some exceptions and you should be meeting with a counselor each semester as you register for you classes.

What is a TAA?

A Transfer Admission Agreement (TAA) is a written contract that guarantees your admission to UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz. A TAA is usually written one year in advance, when you have completed 30 transferable units. However, you must have completed a minimum of 60 UC transferable units at the time of transfer. If you are interested in submitting a TAA with UC Davis, bring your questions to the Transfer Center.

NOTE: If you have already completed a TAA with UC, Davis, you still need to submit a University Undergraduate Application form during the filing period for the quarter you plan to attend!!

Transfer Day

Transfer Day is an annual event hosted by the Transfer Center. At past Transfer Day events over 25 college representatives from 4 states visited Lassen’s students. The Transfer Day event will be held in the Fall semester each year in the Cougar Lair (cafeteria). During the Transfer Day event university representatives make themselves (and their college's information) available to Lassen’s students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Students are encouraged to prepare transfer and/or university requirement questions to ask the college representatives. The following are some example questions:

What are your admission requirements for transfer students at the junior level?

How much is your annual tuition?

Is financial aid available?

Do you have residence halls?

Do you have my major?

Is my major impacted?

If my major is impacted, what special requirements do I need to complete?

If I am not accepted in my major, what are my options?

Can I change to another major?

CSU/UC Workshops

Each year during the months of October and November, the Transfer Center hosts several CSU and UC admissions application workshops in preparation of the CSU and UC application priority deadline of November 30th. In the workshops, counselors work with students in filling out the applications and assists with any questions that arise.

Student Educational Plans

All students should follow an Educational Plan, this is a plan of courses you need to follow to reach a specific degree or certificate. You can make an appointment to see a counselor to have your Educational Plan prepared in the Counseling Office.
