How to make a Donation

There are many ways to give. In addition to cash or pledges, you may give securities, personal property, corporate contributions, bequests, charitable remainder trusts, matching gifts, annuity trusts, life insurance, or establish a manageable endowment. You designate how your money will be spent. You may select a specific program or scholarship or contribute to the unrestricted fund, which is used for priorities set by the college in accordance with the decisions of the Board of Trustees and the Foundation Board of Directors. The foundation also has the capacity to accept a wide range of non-cash items such as underused vehicles or various types of equipment.

Annual Fund gifts provide support for current operations, emergency needs and other special initiatives.

Endowments can be funded by a variety of giving methods (see above). Support can be directed to a current or newly endowed fund in which the principal is invested in perpetuity and the earned interest is used as the donor intends. Endowed gifts may be restricted or unrestricted. Income from unrestricted endowed gifts provides flexible, annual support. The Foundation is responsible for the creation, oversight and stewardship of all endowed accounts and will communicate with the donor as to how the funds are used.

Major and Capital Gifts are used for specific, pre-determined college priorities and provide the donor with an opportunity to permanently link a family or company name with the life and work of Lassen Community College.

Memorial Gifts and Honorary Gifts may be directed to a program or project or used for current annual support; they are welcomed and accepted in the same manner as all other gifts.

Named Donor Gifts may bear the donor's name or may be named to honor a spouse or other family member, a colleague, a favorite professor, a firm or other person(s) or organization(s) deserving recognition.

Restricted Gifts are designed by the donor for current use by a department or a program.

Scholarships The Lassen Community College Foundation has a number of general scholarships for full-time and part-time students in all fields of study. The primary consideration for general scholarship is financial need. Scholarship amounts vary from year to year. For more information on these or other scholarships, contact the Lassen College Financial Aid Office.
